Governor of Barinas: Around 10,500 homes were affected by the rains

The governor of the state of Barinas, Adán Chávez, explained that a total of 10,500 families and around 40,000 people were affected as a result of the rains that fell on the state, especially in the town of the city of Nutria in the Sosa municipality.

“We are solving with our People and Government. Six tons of protein have been delivered, we have 15 shelters with 700 people - those who have suffered the most damage to their homes. In addition to three thousand packages from the Local Supply and Protection Committees (CLAP) and two thousand hot meals a day for the residents of these shelters,” said the governor.

Chávez added that “this is the fifth concentrated day (...) there has been no shortage of food and we are carrying out the necessary infrastructure work to resolve the immediate problems and the effects.

For his part, the Minister for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, reported that 40% of the rupture caused by the flood has already been sealed and by tomorrow it will be fully ready.
