The governor of the state of Mérida, Arnaldo Sánchez, together with the Andes 2025 Task Force, explained that the rains that fell on the state and the risky situation experienced in the last 61 days left a total of 595 homes owned by affected families.
From the Libertador municipality, the entity's first civil authority added that the state of Mérida was isolated due to the
closure of the three access roads, but that in record time the El Vigía-Mérida crossing was restored, and it confirmed that work is continuing to reopen the Mérida-Trujillo and Mérida-Barinas roads. In addition, he commented that multiple land roads have been connected
within the entity that were blocked by the various landslides and water
currents caused by the intense rains.
The governor explained that 15 bridges were affected, and restoration work is being carried out, through the immediate response of various national institutions, for which he thanked the Bolivarian Government for their quick activation of services, highlighting the health care of more than 8,760 people, restoring hospitals and operating rooms for emergencies and consultations of needy citizens.
In addition, the receipt of 83 tons of supplies for the affected municipalities stood out.
