The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced the sending of an official delegation to the funeral of Pope Francis, which will be led by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, and the mayor of Caracas, Admiral in Chief, Carmen Meléndez, stressing the importance of the figure of the pontiff both for Venezuela and for the world.
The Life and Legacy of Pope Francis
During an emotional meeting with candidates from the Great Patriotic Pole “Simon Bolivar”, President Maduro paid tribute to the extraordinary career of Pope Francis, who stood out not only as a religious leader, but also as a moral reference for the 21st century.
“The same country, Argentina, gave the world an exceptional human being like Pope Francis, while giving birth to a fascist like Javier Mile i,” he stressed, stressing that both figures of anguish and hope can emerge from the same nation.
Moral and spiritual reference
The head of state highlighted how the Pope transcended the boundaries of the Catholic Church, being recognized for the diversity of religious groups and by people of different ideologies. “We have seen wonderful expressions of our Muslim brothers recognizing their impact,” he said, stressing that his legacy invites reflection on humility and modesty.
The President also emphasized the Pope's role in vindicating the figure of José Gregorio Hernández, the doctor of the poor in Venezuela. “The power of peoples' history transcends life. Let us learn the lessons of modesty and humility that are the values of the Christ of peoples,” he said, insisting on the importance of these principles in the difficult moments facing humanity.
Call to Union
In a tone of hope and unity, President Maduro proclaimed: “I make a Christian call for unity to all the peoples of the world,” urging that this loss become an engine of collective solidarity and dialogue between nations.
This meeting reaffirms the commitment of the Great Patriotic Pole to a vision of unity and progress, recalling the importance of ethics and spirituality in daily life.
