This Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, urged the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, to promote the revision of the law of the Federal Government Council to adapt to the new times that the country is experiencing and the exercise of power in the hands of the People.

“I have asked that the law of the Federal Governing Council be revised to include, with important weight, the Communes and Community Circuits given the pace that the popular consultation processes have acquired,” he said.

He added that “we must always be harmonizing laws, reforms, things under permanent consultation (...) I have to say that the Federal Governing Council has an organic law that must be studied and known by everyone who governs.”

In this regard, he specified that this legal instrument very well establishes the functions, capacities, scope and opportunities opened by the Federal Governing Council. It is a PON institution that was debated and that was proposed by Commander Hugo Chávez in 1999 to be widely approved. “We have to continue to strengthen it,” he said.
