On the night of Monday, August 11, the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, assured that “Colombia and Venezuela are called to work for peace”.
In his Con Maduro+ program, he stated that “we are condemned to work for integration, cooperation, doing good to each other and accepting ourselves with the differences that we have as brothers. No brother is the same as the other, it is said that Colombia and Venezuela are Siamese and there are cases of Siamese who are different in character. We are brothers and we have to accept each other as we are.”
He added that “we are working very seriously to unite and productively integrate investment and trade in all the business sectors of the number one area we have signed. On the Venezuelan side, Táchira and Zulia and the Colombian north of Santander and the department of La Guajira.”
In this regard, he specified that “we want to unite the two governments and the military forces in the guarantee of being a territory free of violence, armed groups and drug trafficking (...) and we are going to achieve it”.
“Venezuela is a country free of cultivation, of coca laboratories and this year it has a record of seizures in terms of the percentage of cocaine that drug traffickers try to pass through our seas and/or our territory,” he emphasized.
