The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, ratified that the Geneva Agreement establishes Guiana Essequiba as a territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and that, in addition, he has full authority to defend it as an integral part of its sovereignty.

“Whatever they do, the Geneva Agreement and Venezuela's rights over Guiana Essequiba will prevail,” he said in the Digital Zone segment, in broadcast number 88, of the Con Maduro+ program.

In this regard, he reaffirmed that “we consulted the Venezuelan people on December 5, 2023, which became a mandate that ratifies the historic path of defending the Essequibo as an integral territory of Venezuela.”

The head of state stated that “this has been stated in all the documents submitted to the ICC. We do not recognize any decision that comes out of this body. There is only one governing and legal document, the Geneva Agreement, to sit down and resolve this territorial dispute.”

“We are patient,” he said.
