The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, referring to the issue of Venezuela's entry into the BRICS, said that he hopes “the road will be cleared based on the recognition of what is already a reality: Venezuela belongs to the BRICS.”
“It's as if they said that Venezuela is not South America, it's not Caribbean or Amazonian. The right-wing governments of Bolsonaro and Yván Duque said that they denied Venezuela's participation in the summits of the Amazon community. They vetoed us,” he recalled.
In the special interview with Opera Mundi's journalist and political analyst, Breno Altman, he asserted that “we are Amazonian, Caribbean, Latin American and we belong to the BRICS.”
“In the name of God the Father and every creator, let the road be cleared,” he said.
Regarding the recent BRICS meeting, he said that “I think we have to turn the page and look to the future and clear the way, because Venezuela belongs to the BRICS, I have been saying for 200 years”.
