Head of State: Mother Carmen Rendiles represents the humility and perseverance of Venezuelan women

From the Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Museum, where he attended the vigil held to celebrate the canonization of the first Venezuelan saints, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted the value of the work of Santa María Carmen Rendiles.

“Mother Carmen, who has been little known, but is very miraculous, very powerful,” he said, reviewing the life and work of the new Venezuelan saint, highlighted the humility and dedication that marked Mother Carmen Rendiles' every step.

“Mother Carmen was born without an arm and then she had a thousand things about her health, she had very severe arthritis in her last years of life and she never complained, what she did was give a smile and a word of faith to the nuns in her congregation,” she recalled, stating that the Saint “represents that good, humble, persevering essence of Venezuelan women.”

“Mother Carmen represents the anonymous Venezuelan woman, who is there every day as a mother working miracles in her home with the boys, with the girls. Mother Carmen represents the Venezuelan teacher, the Venezuelan doctor, the professional, the student, she represents the woman who is in the community, who fights every day for her community, Mother Carmen represents humility, that dedication, that intelligence, that overcoming the worst difficulties,” she said.
