The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, paid tribute this Saturday to the Grand Marshal of Ayacucho, G/J Antonio José de Sucre, commemorating 229 years since his birth.

“229 years after his birth, we honor the legacy of our distinguished independence fighter, the Grand Marshal of Ayacucho, Antonio José de Sucre, who was always loyal, courageous, just and compassionate, who, through his military gifts and high sense of morality, won the admiration, friendship and trust of the Liberator Simon Bolivar. Sucre Vive!” , highlighted the head of state through his X account.

Sucre, who was born on February 3, 1795 in the city of Cumaná, was a soldier, politician and hero of the independence wars, and under the command of the Liberator Simon Bolivar he made great contributions to sweep the Spanish empire from South American lands.
