This Thursday, December 12, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that the Bolivarian Government is deploying all possible resources and efforts to develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Venezuela, to “build a humane, peaceful society”.

“We have to establish clear criteria on this issue, which is too much of a priority, I would say urgent,” he stressed.

He said this when commenting that if Artificial Intelligence, “is used for unspeakable purposes or world domination, it can be used as an advantage and would then be a threat to all the Peoples of the South.”

For this reason, he stressed that “the study, management, knowledge and production of Artificial Intelligence is one of the greatest priorities in our country”.

In this regard, he pointed out that in the Plan of the 7 Transformations, it has been included “as the great priority because the world's powers have taken a giant leap in this area”.

The approach was made during the opening ceremony of the University of Sciences “Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán, located at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC), in the state of Miranda, when he said that this house of studies will teach 16 cutting-edge careers to promote technological development in the country, “we have more than 160 curricular specialists”.
