Social movements across the country will begin a constituent process to legitimate their state, municipal and national leadership, the vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) for the Great Historical Bloc, Héctor Rodríguez, announced this Thursday.

During a meeting with representatives of social movements from all over the country and the parties of the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP), in Caracas, the leader explained that this constituent process will begin in October with the creation of promotional teams, will continue in November with a great debate in all spaces and in the month of December there will be a national plenary session.

“Constitutional processes are for generating dynamics, let's not be afraid of constituent processes that are not for seeking office, let's see what they give. They are to generate dynamics that reinforce collective discussion, that attract new leadership, that convene majorities, that summon new ideas and that have a permanent debate,” he said.

In addition, according to a press release, he assured that organizations such as community councils, communes and social movements must expand and serve communities, without being anchored in a single political or social task.

“Movements must be grounded on the national and international agenda and on their movement to listen to people,” he said.

He added that this process will help “politically elevate the country, gain an organizational balance and strengthen the organic forces of the revolution”, as well as “raise the agenda, shake up movements and generate great force.”
