The Institute for the Arts of Image and Space (IARTES) began assembling the works that will give life to the VI Biennial of the South: “Peoples in Resistance: The Power of Diversity”, an important international visual arts platform that will open its doors to the public on October 10 at the Museum of Fine Arts (MBA).
The general director of IARTES, Zacarías García, together with researcher and curator Raúl Chacón, leads the installation process of the pieces, with the support of the institution's multidisciplinary General Services team.
Raúl Chacón highlighted the curatorial approach, designed to generate a fresh and borderless dialogue between the works. “There is no rigid discourse. We are combining the topics of this Biennial, imaginary, body, territory, in the different rooms so that the participating works talk to each other,” he said.
He also emphasized the high artistic quality, assuring that “this will be one of the best editions of the Southern Biennial”.
The exhibition will feature several avant-garde proposals that reflect current trends in art for the enjoyment of the public. In addition, the works that will be exhibited come from different parts of the country and the world.
This edition stands out for the participation of artists from the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), as well as from other latitudes, which strengthens the event's international platform.
The venues of the VI Southern Biennial in the Capital District will include the Museum of Fine Arts (MBA), the Rómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, the Open Spaces of Plaza de los Museos, Los Caobos Park, the Tiuna el Fuerte Cultural Center, the San Agustín sector, and the IARTES.
