The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, presented the 2nd Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature in honor of Manuel Felipe Rugeles, whose recognition was given to the writer Gregorina Acosta.

“The winners are thrilled, because in this award they have presented their works under a pseudonym and you don't know the name of who won. In addition, this award has grown in the last two years because participation has increased,” said Meléndez.

He added that in the year 2026, the Children's and Youth Literature Prize will have new categories to encourage new writers. At the same time, he noted that “the XVI Edition of the Caracas Book Fair has been fabulous with the presentation of books and academic activities.”

He reiterated that so far more than 80,000 family members have enjoyed this book party, in which they have had the opportunity to visit the 72 publishing houses that make life at this event.

It is worth noting that the XVI Edition of the Caracas Book Fair takes place at the National Art Gallery (GAN) and extends to the Plaza de la Juventud. The motto of the event is “A book, a friend” and the purpose is to achieve the interest of children and adolescents in order to separate them for a moment from social networks.
