The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH), in its recent forecasts, warns that the 2025 tropical cyclone season in the Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, indicates a high probability that it will be more active than usual.
According to the report, there is a 50% chance that the season will be more active than usual, 35% that it will be normal and a 15% chance that it will be below average.
INAMEH estimates that between 13 and 18 storms could form, of which between five and nine could become hurricanes. Of these, between two and five could reach the category of major hurricanes (categories 3, 4 or 5).
The institution has reiterated that it is constantly monitoring the situation and urged the population to follow its official statements, since it is the only authorized body in the country to issue this type of information.
