The Indigenous Parliament of America and Afro-Descendants (PIA), Venezuela Chapter, will promote dialogue for peace and unity of native communities, announced the president of PIA-Venezuela, deputy Kariela Aray, upon being ratified in office, this Friday, January 24 .

In a note from the National Assembly (AN) on its website, it states that Deputy Nelson Mavio was ratified as first vice-president.

During the installation of the PIA-Venezuela, Aray assured that they will bring the truth of the Bolivarian Revolution to all the country's indigenous communities.

The Indigenous Parliament of America is made up of deputies who represent the legislative powers of Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay.

This legislative body was institutionalized during the Second Meeting of Indigenous Legislators, held from August 29 to 31, 1988, after taking up an initiative of the General Congresses of the Guaymí, Embera and Kuna Peoples of Panama, in August 1987, according to a press release.

According to its own Legal Statute, the Indigenous Parliament “essentially constitutes the political and social space where indigenous parliamentarians from the Americas will discuss and make known the problems affecting indigenous people and will suggest appropriate measures to overcome them.
