Last Tuesday, Israel unleashed a massive air offensive against Beirut, destroying several buildings in the capital of Lebanon and the southern suburb, in a last military assault before the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah.

Massive bombings devastated residential buildings after issuing evacuation orders in more than 20 buildings. According to the Israeli army, the attack on dozens of Hezbollah targets was confirmed, including a devastating impact in the Nuwairi area, in the center of Beirut, where a four-story building housing displaced people was completely destroyed.

The Israeli war comes just before a crucial session of the Israeli cabinet, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to give the green light to a possible ceasefire agreement.

The delegations of France and the United States to the UN Security Council confirmed the possibility of a ceasefire in Lebanon.

The agreement provides for an initial 60-day truce with specific conditions: the Lebanese Army would be deployed in the south in exchange for the withdrawal of Israeli and Hezbollah troops, a process that would be overseen by a U.S. committee.
