Jorge Arreaza: Communal Councils and Communes constitute a shield against pretensions of imperial domination

As part of a political training day with young people from the Antonio José de Sucre International School of Youth Leadership, located in Filas de Mariche, Miranda state, the rector of the National University of the Communes, Jorge Arreaza, shared reflections on the strategic role of territorial organization in the defense of national sovereignty.

During his speech, Arreaza emphasized that the consolidation of the Communal Councils, the Communes and the instances of popular defense constitutes a shield against pretensions of imperial domination.

Arreaza, according to a press release, stressed that communal control over spaces, resources and ways of life is key to preventing any external disruption. “The communal organization makes the territory impregnable and is a symbol of sovereignty,” he said.

“Notice how important this is, not only for the Government, happiness, planning and meeting needs, but also for the defense of the Homeland. Therefore, let's take care of the Community Council, let's take care of the Commune; let's make the Communal Circuits become Communes, and that these Communes, articulated in axes, configure new forms of city —whatever you call them— where we can continue to strengthen the power of the people in the territory,” he stressed.
