Jorge Rodríguez: Council for Sovereignty and Peace was created to promote initiatives that defend the Homeland

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, led a meeting with the diplomatic corps accredited in the country and 54 of the 56 political parties registered with the National Electoral Council (CNE) regarding the National Council for Sovereignty and Peace.

During his speech, he recalled that Regional Sovereignty and Peace Councils were installed at the national level, which are spaces “for everyone, without exclusion” created to promote initiatives that defend peace and security in Venezuela. As well as the Sectorial Councils that have resulted in meetings with representatives of churches, academies, businessmen, workers, community councils and “very importantly with 54 of the 56 political parties registered with the National Electoral Council (CNE)”.

In this regard, he indicated that “this initiative that emerged from the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has been very well received in a process that we do not hesitate to call one of confluence, consensus, encounter and national union”, while explaining that the main objective of this National Council is union for the defense of peace in the Republic.

Rodríguez assured that the threat of fascism is the main justification of this Council. However, in the face of the global landscape, it is necessary to tell the truth.
