The vice-president
of Communication and Electoral Affairs of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela
(PSUV), Jorge Rodríguez, denounced that opposition extremism, led by
María Corina Machado, does not rest on its attempts to destabilize the country's economy to harm the people.
“That's what María Corina Machado and Leopoldo López and
the other are looking for, and Edmundo González Urrutia, that's their dream, their dream is to try to
destroy the Venezuelan economy,” he lashed during the weekly press conference of the red awning.
He recalled that “they (extremism) did harm in 2019,
how could they not? And in the year 2020 and in the year 2021 they did a lot of damage. They reduced Venezuela's
entry to truly inconceivable levels. They attacked our
main source of income, which is our oil industry.”
However, he highlighted the improvements in the conditions and
characteristics of the Venezuelan economy. “It doesn't mean that
the effects of sanctions are not felt, of course, that's why they apply them, to harm, to violate,
to affect, that's why they apply them, because otherwise, they
wouldn't apply them; or the effects of the blockade, because otherwise, they wouldn't apply it,” he criticized.
“But we have already learned, and I refer to the government of
President Nicolás Maduro, I refer to all of us and I refer to the People of Venezuela.
Take a look at how the Venezuelan economy is doing at the
present time. Notice how oil production continues to grow. Notice
how the street is in absolute peace and the people are quiet in their jobs, the
children in their schools, the boys in their universities,” said Rodríguez.
