There is no argument that the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, can justify the kidnapping of 252 Venezuelans in a maximum-security prison in that country, said Jorge Rodríguez, the head of the VEN 25+ Campaign Command.

During a press conference held this Friday, Rodríguez pointed out that compatriots who are imprisoned in that country are being victims of the “extraterritoriality of gringo justice”, which violates any international agreement.

“The reason for a person's detention is because they violated some law in that country, yet those Venezuelans had never been to El Salvador. Whatever we have to do to repatriate them, we are going to do,” he said.

In the same way, Rodríguez criticized the position of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, who has done nothing in defense of the compatriots kidnapped in the aforementioned Central American country.

“What is that man for? It only serves to attack countries that do not remain under the aegis of empires,” he stressed.
