From the Federal Legislative Palace, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, 214 years after the signing of the Independence Act, ratified that Venezuela will continue to be independent, free and sovereign.
“July 5 is the day of full freedom, of the ratification of our battle cry, which is a cry for peace, but which is also a cry to confirm that on July 5 we all carry them in our hearts,” said Rodríguez.
He also emphasized that there is no, nor will there be, power in the world that can break the legacy of the Liberators of this South America. “A lot of blood was shed, a lot of effort was put into it, the strength derived from the unity of all, the forces of the Fatherland so that in subsequent generations it would occur to us at some point to let go or tarnish that legacy,” he said.
In that sense, he argued that we Venezuelans say with deep pride, “we are sons and daughters of Simon Bolivar, Antonio José de Sucre, José Félix Ribas, Francisco de Miranda and Rafael Urdaneta.”
Rodríguez , wished a happy Fatherland Day to everyone who truly feels their homeland even in their viceroys.
