Venezuelan José Altuve, of the
Houston Astros, shot his 11th home run of the season and 240th of his career
in the major leagues, tying Roberto Clemente in that department for the Hall of Fame.
That home run became the only Astros race in a 3-1 loss to A's
at Sutter Health Park.
With his
home run, Altuve hit 240 home runs and equaled Clemente in 281st place for the most homers in the history
of the Big Tent. In addition, among
active players, the Venezuelan tied Nick Castellanos, who also has those same numbers.
On the other
hand, the Venezuelan consolidates his position in fourth place of all time in the Houston
franchise, as a guard for Jeff Bagwell (449), Lance Berkman (326) and Craig Biggio (291).
He also reached 2,306 hits and takes over the 154
all-time box.
So
far this season, Altuve is batting for .274 with 74 hits, 31 RBIs and 41 scored.
