The Legislative Council of the Guayana Esequiba state opened the public consultation process for the Law of Symbols, an initiative led by its president Arsenio González together with Governor Neil Villamizar, in order to collect proposals to establish the emblem, anthem and flag of the entity.
During the opening ceremony, González announced the start of collecting ideas in collaboration with 22 community councils and three communes. The objective is to build elements that represent collective sentiment and regional identity.
The consultation will take place through community meetings, in accordance with article 115 of the internal regulations of the state parliament. This mechanism guarantees the direct participation of the population in the selection of symbols.
The legislator stressed that the project not only contemplates the creation of emblems, but also the strengthening of the bond between the inhabitants. In his words, the law will reflect the trajectory, legacy and aspirations of the territory.
The journey through the communities will allow us to integrate different perspectives into this institutional process. The articulation between the legislature, the regional executive and grass-roots organizations marks a decisive step in the consolidation of the Guayana Esequiba state.
