This Easter Sunday, during the tradition of the Burning of Judas, figures such as María Corina Machado, Edmundo González, Nayib Bukele and Donald Trump were represented in dolls made by Venezuelans, who chose them as symbols of betrayal and injustice in the political and social spheres.
In all 24 states of the country, Venezuelans participated in this cultural event, using recycled materials and pyrotechnics to make the dolls.
This ritual, with religious roots, has evolved into an expression of resistance and collective memory. The burning of each figure represents the popular rejection of those politicians who have done harm to society, according to a press release from Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
