María Rojas won the silver medal and broke the Venezuelan record in the 800m (+Spain)

The athlete María Rojas broke the oldest Venezuelan record for the discipline in the absolute category of 800 meters, with a record of 2:04.59 and won the silver medal at the ninth edition of the “José Antonio Peña” Rally, in the Spanish town of Ordizia.
The record in that category had been held since July 24, 2005, when it was held by Jenny Mejías, a distance runner from Barinas.
The first place in the 800 meters was won by the Spanish Sandra Labarta, also with a personal record of 2:04.46, and in third place was the Iberian runner Julia Maroto (2:05.06), according to the Ministry of Sports press.
In the men's 800 meter race, Venezuelan Ryan López obtained a personal record of 1:46.30 that placed him in fourth place in the final 1 of the race.
Also in this distance, but in final 3, national distance runner Freddy Rojas finished in ninth place with 1:52.59.
In the men's 400 meters, Kelvis Padrino and Javier Gómez clocked 45.80 and 45.99 respectively, a positive performance with a view to qualifying by ranking for the World Championship in Japan in September.
