A total of 70 public transport units were held for non-compliance with the legal ticket charge and for irregularities in the treatment of users, said the mayor of Maracaibo, Giancarlo Di Martino, according to the balance of the inspection operation carried out by the Municipal Institute for Collective and Urban Passenger Transport of Maracaibo (IMTCUMA).

He specified that he received complaints of the irregularities of various transport lines in the city, in the bus and light car modes, which maintained an excessive charge of illegal fares, in addition to the mistreatment of users.

In this regard, he emphasized that operations are based on achieving an optimal public transport service, of quality and respect, “we ensure that there is a balance between user and carrier.”

“In these last two days, we have retained 30 vans and 40 trolleys per seat in Polimaracaibo, in the first instance calling them, in the hope that they understand that we have to reach a balance between user and carrier,” he said.

He insisted that public transport must be improved, “roads, the collection of non-standard fares, is an issue that we are addressing.”

In this regard, he pointed out that “a series of requests from the community that are being processed with the leaders of the parishes through the VenApp are being met; technical aids and equipment such as refrigerators and air conditioners are being managed”.

Regarding the collection of solid waste in the city's parishes, he stressed that “we continue to raise awareness to combat the issue of garbage together.”

“27 new compactor trucks have arrived to us, so we are continuing to strengthen the collection system in the city. These units will parade this Sunday, November 9th to show them to the community,” he said.
