The Ministry of Popular Power for Culture invites you to celebrate the 60 years of artistic life of the first Venezuelan theater and television actress, Dilia Waikkarán, which will take place this Thursday, August 14 and Friday, 15, at 3:00 p.m., in the Juana Sujo room of the Artist's House.
The actress will present her acclaimed monologue “Manuela Sáenz: I came to tell everything”, written by playwright and historian Vinicio Romero and directed by Henry Manganiello. Admission is free.
The play, which premiered in 2005 and celebrates 20 years on the local scene, tells the story of “The Liberator of the Liberator” through excerpts from her letters and diary. This interpretation seeks to value the historical role of Manuela Sáenz in the Independence of America, defending her life and work with a gender perspective.
The Great Mission Viva Venezuela, My Beloved Homeland, together with Cultura Venezuela and the National Theater Company, are sponsoring the presentation, which seeks to show a testimony of feminine courage. Dilia Waikkarán, with her great theatrical experience, gives the audience a moving performance, full of strength and eloquence. During the play, the actress wears replicas of Manuela Sáenz's historic costumes, such as that of Knight of the Sun of the Order of Peru, awarded in 1821 by General José de San Martín.
