Prosecutors from the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC) carried out 124 inspections at the national level on biodiversity, in which 1,116 species were confiscated, including mammals, birds and reptiles, which were kept in captivity irregularly.

They also managed to release 10 species of wildlife and a dolphin in Falcón state.

During the operations, 48 businesses and 21 livestock farms were approached, in which irregular keeping and captivity of the species were detected, resulting in the retention of 112 mammals, 974 birds and 25 reptiles.

More than 350 officials were involved in the audits, in addition to MINEC teams, spokespersons from the People's Power, the National Parks Institute (Inparks), the Bolivarian National Guard, the Bolivarian National Police (GNB), and the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC) participated.

The actions responded, in part, to complaints made by Venezuelans to the Popular and Communal Government Chamber that recently installed the MINEC, and also to the direct and anonymous 0800 Ambient line (0800-262.43.68).

These deployments reinforce the fight being maintained by the Bolivarian Government, led by President Nicolás Maduro, against illegal trafficking in species in Venezuela.
