480 members of the National Promoting Committee were sworn in to promote the formation of 4,775 Ecosocialist Councils in the indigenous communities of Venezuela, said Ricardo Molina, the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC).

This was announced during his speech at the celebration of the International Day of Indigenous Peoples, held at the Venezuelan School of Planning in Caracas.

Within the framework of this activity and led by the Minister of Popular Power for Indigenous Peoples, Clara Vidal, the representatives of the original peoples took up the task with courage and for the defense of the rights of Mother Earth, according to a note published on the MINEC website.

Molina highlighted that “we are happy to see how this promotional team is set up to go to each of the country's indigenous communities. That will be our strength, because they will transmit their wisdom to us, we will learn to relate to Mother Earth.”

In this regard, he affirmed that with the inclusion of indigenous communities in the Great Mission Mother Earth Venezuela is enriched with their wisdom and their ancestral knowledge.

“Without you it can't be done, we appreciate your willingness to join this Great Mission and your willingness to teach us to do our best work,” he stressed.

He also explained to the indigenous peoples the 7 vertices of the Great Mother Earth Venezuela Mission, devised by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, such as: Organization and Training for Life, Sowing for Life, Territory for Life, Climate for Life, Fauna for Life, Sanitation for Life and Production for Life.

He reiterated that from the ecosocialist vision, human needs must be met, but with deep respect for nature, and this is the task of the 44 Peoples and the 4,775 indigenous communities that exist in Venezuela, “developing better ways of connecting with nature and without harm to it, our indigenous communities have a lot to teach us, for example in how to live in harmony with Mother Earth,” he added.
