The Sectorial Vice President for Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, stressed that the fight against drug trafficking in Venezuela was truly a reality and effective with the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez.

He recalled that before Commander Chávez's efforts, the mission of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) controlled drug trafficking operations in America.

“Here in Venezuela, President Chávez broke with the DEA in 2004, we decided to break with the DEA and the results have been extraordinary,” he said in the 88th broadcast of the program Con Maduro+, hosted by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

In that regard, Cabello specified that if we buy the last six years of the DEA with the first six years without the DEA, “we went from 209 tons to 374 tons (seized).”

He also indicated that these are strong numbers, for example, “the number of aircraft that have been neutralized used by Colombian drug trafficking and the Albanian mafia run by the largest cartel in the world, in fact it is run by the DEA, 396 aircraft have been neutralized that are no longer in the service of drug trafficking.”

Cabello also said that “to shut up the mouths of these people of the extreme right, imperialism accuses us of whatever barbarity they can think of. According to the UN (United Nations Organization), the MINCI (Ministry of Popular Power for Communication and Information) of Venezuela is not saying that, no, in other words, they are official figures of the organization”.
