During the St.
Petersburg International Forum, the Minister of the People's Power of Tourism, Leticia Gómez,
highlighted the tourism policies being promoted by Venezuela to continue strengthening
this sector throughout the country.
“Venezuela seeks to make creativity an
instrument of local and inclusive development, promoting
community empowerment and strengthening local identity,” he said during the paper
entitled “Urban Tourism: The Unity of Architecture, Design Code and Creative
Industry for Sustainable Territorial Development”.
He also stressed that creativity is an
instrument of local and inclusive development; and he reiterated that tourism is seen
and executed as an economic and social factor with a transversal impact, which
energizes the rest of the productive sectors.
He indicated that the tourism-creativity binomial
allows us to promote a model of economic growth linked to the
cultural preservation and well-being of communities and that the industry must be in
line with the full satisfaction of local and foreign visitors.
“In Venezuela, we have consolidated
virtuous action between the National Government, public and private sectors, communities and
unions,” he said.
This annual meeting, organized by UNESCO,
proposes actions to continue advancing the Network. In addition, it represents an
opportunity for exchange between the activities carried out by cities.
