In a telephone contact, the Minister of Popular Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, announced that there will be six maritime marches led by fishermen from the states of Anzoátegui, La Guaira, Miranda, Falcón, Nueva Esparta, Zulia, Aragua and Sucre, as a sign of support for the defense of sovereignty.

“These six great maritime marches will be part of a historic day, where Venezuelan fishermen will raise their voices and their active presence in defense of the country,” he said while noting that the U.S. siege of the Caribbean, with its military deployment, has caused great indignation among Venezuelans.

He specified that since dawn the fishermen have been preparing their boats, organizing themselves with discipline and commitment.

“They are men and women enlisted in the Fishing Militia, trained and active in the defense of the Caribbean Sea, which today is threatened by the military deployment of the US government,” he said.

Loyo praised the strong will of the fishing sector, which he described as “a people of peace that is dedicated to its daily work, but is willing to organize and integrate into the civic-military-police union to become the first sentinels of the Fatherland”.

“Let no one make a mistake with this call for peace. We are prepared to defend our sovereignty with dignity and firmness,” he emphasized.

The minister also reported that several Caribbean and Atlantic nations, affected by the actions of US imperialism, will join a network of rejection of the threats that loom over the region.
