Minister of Education supervised rehabilitation work at the Julio Calcaño Technique in Caracas

The Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez, inspected this Wednesday the progress of the comprehensive rehabilitation works being carried out at the Julio Calcaño Industrial Technical School, located in Catia, Caracas.

Accompanied by the management team of the institution and the People's Power, he explained that this campus, a historic infrastructure of 20,000 square meters, is under a profound intervention, executed under the premise of “a single government”, to restore 100% of its operational capacities.

“In this institution, which has approximately 600 students, we are creating the conditions to increase school enrollment. It is of a strategic nature that this technical school, from whose classrooms have graduated outstanding professionals fundamental to the country's productive development, is in optimal conditions,” said Rodríguez, while stressing that these tasks are carried out together with the Ministry of Public Works.

Regarding the technical report of the work, the minister specified that the waterproofing works have a 98% execution rate, covering 5 thousand square meters of surface including the smaller domes and the largest dome. In addition, repairs to the plumbing and plumbing system amount to 80%, while the optimization of the general electrical system is 45%.

During the tour, according to a press release, the asphalting work in the surrounding areas, the plans for the expansion and activation of the school canteen within the framework of the School Feeding Program (PAE), and the future provision of specialized laboratories were also confirmed, which will be accompanied by the addition of a new teaching staff to meet the projected increase in enrollment.

He recalled that this inspection is part of the macro goals of the Venezuelan State, and reported that during the last few months 1,700 educational institutions have been recovered nationwide. He specified that during the current semester, work is being carried out on 526 additional campuses and that the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, has already authorized the incorporation of another 500 centers for the next semester.
