The Minister of Popular Power for University Education, Ricardo Sánchez, assured that the university sector is called to be a protagonist in the consolidation of technological and scientific sovereignty in Venezuela.
In an interview with the Globovision podcast, in the framework of the 3rd International Telecommunications Fair of Venezuela (FITELVEN), he emphasized that the university sector “cannot be exempt from this effort. Today, Venezuela can not only be at the forefront, but also lead in the logic of digital governance and technological sovereignty.”
Sánchez highlighted that more than 35,000 students from different institutions participated in activities related to the fair, reflecting the commitment of university youth to telecommunications and innovation.
“We are a country that has launched four satellites into orbit, and that has universities capable of training top-level professionals, both in undergraduate and postgraduate studies. This speaks of the prospective and robust perspective that accompanies the challenges of the sector,” he stressed.
He also explained that, from polytechnic to private universities, training in scientific and technological areas has been strengthened. “This will allow future professionals to be integrated into strategic projects that promote the country's digital development,” he said.
“Today Venezuela demonstrates its capabilities and the university is a fundamental space for projecting that talent towards the great challenges of communication and technology in the world,” he said.
The minister sent a special message to young people starting careers in technological areas, encouraging them to be part of the process of innovation and digital transformation.
“Youth are the active protagonists of the future. What we see today at FITELVEN is a demonstration that Venezuela is ready to compete and lead in the field of technology,” he said.
