The Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Clara Vidal, highlighted the participation of ancestral peoples in the election this Sunday, June 1, when three deputies will be elected to join the National Assembly for the parliamentary term that begins next January 5.
“More than 169 thousand voters that we had on all those dates of the meetings show that Venezuela is characterized by being a plurinational country, a multicultural country,” he said.
He also indicated that indigenous peoples “today are giving their example of loyalty and democracy”, while stressing this is possible “thanks to the Bolivarian Revolution, previously our indigenous peoples and communities did not choose, we did not have our indigenous representation, before the National Assembly and before our legislative councils, it really is empowerment, it is a demand”.
