This Tuesday, January 28, the minister of popular
power for culture, Ernesto Villegas, arrived in the city of
Havana, where he will participate in the VI Conference for World Balance,
organized by Cuba with support from the United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), for dialogue between
civilizations and the culture of peace.
“After fulfilling my schedule in Egypt, where
I attended the Cairo International Book Fair, and was received by the
ministers of Culture and Tourism and Antiquities, I am in Havana to
attend the VI Conference for World Balance, organized by Cuba
with the support of UNESCO,” Villegas wrote on the social network Instagram, according to
the Ministry for Culture.
In addition, Villegas took the
opportunity to pay homage to the artist Edgar Álvarez Estrada, who insisted on portraying the forerunner of Latin American independence Francisco
de Miranda standing and victorious.
“From here I pay homage to the master painter Edgar Álvarez Estrada, whose remains are being veiled at the National Art Gallery in Caracas. Here, in the residence of the Venezuelan ambassador in Havana —Orlando Maneiro—, this painting of Francisco de Miranda by Edgar stands out, as a sign of his commitment to painting the Precursor standing and victorious,” he said.
