The Minister of Popular Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Julio León Heredia, and the president of the National Institute for Integral Agricultural Health (INSAI) and Deputy Minister Tibisay León, carried out, together with the delegation of farmers from the state of Mérida, an inspection at the facilities of the Wholesale Car Market (INMERCA).
INMERCA, in a note published on its Instagram account, reported that during the tour, Heredia noted that the delegation inspected the distribution chain of agricultural products, specifically potatoes, from its arrival to its release on the market.
“We have confirmed the excellent organization of INMERCA,” he said, following the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to strengthen the agri-food sector and guarantee food sovereignty.
For her part, the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, thanked the efforts made by the Bolivarian Government through the Ministries of Agriculture and Land and Trade to ensure that our people can receive excellent quality products at a good price.
Meléndez is committed to continuing to improve the spaces within our municipal markets so that they are the producers who can directly offer their crops.
The meeting also addressed key issues for the future of the sector and raised the possibility of providing a space within the market so that farmers in Merida can sell their merchandise directly, thus strengthening the contact between the producer and the final consumer.
This initiative would not only benefit farmers, but would also contribute to price stability and to the population's access to fresh, quality products.
The inspection of the “mobilization guide” issued by INSAI is only the first step in a strategic plan that seeks to guarantee not only food security and sovereignty, but also comprehensive protection for our farmers and producers across the country.
