The organized Popular Power of the municipalities of Ezequiel Zamora and Cedeño, in the state of Monagas, assumed the productive vanguard to guarantee the country's food sovereignty through the cultivation of yellow and white corn.

Through the Community Agrifood Plan, local producers took direct control of the production of this flagship product, establishing an efficient management model that eliminates intermediaries and strengthens economic planning directly from the territory.

The operational deployment began in the Bicentennial Commune 200 of the Ezequiel Zamora municipality, where land workers are currently carrying out tracing tasks on the Capacho properties, under the coordination of a communal technical team. In this sector, a group of 34 producers aims to plant 535 hectares of yellow corn, basing their planning on strict recognition of biological and climatic cycles to ensure the success and effectiveness of the harvest.

In this regard, Yodalis Bermúdez, spokesperson responsible for the plan in the area, highlighted the importance of technical training and the deep connection with the field that was generated during this process, stating: “It has been a very nice, very pleasant experience. I have learned to know corn, the root, the times of the earth, the time when it must be prepared, to wait for rain. Everything has a time and a process.”
