During the year 2024, more than 120,000 hectares of rice were planted in the country in the summer and winter cycles, representing an increase of 26% compared to the cultivation done in 2023.

This was reported by the president of the Venezuelan Federation of Rice Producing Organizations (Fevearroz), José Luis Pérez, who explained that the yield on those 120,000 hectares in 2024 was approximately five thousand kilograms per hectare.

As reported by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Pérez indicated that farm workers “are always making the effort with production programs in general to bring yields to competitive levels, similar to those we have in our area of influence in Latin America, in countries that produce rice and that are our neighbors, such as Colombia and Brazil.”

It is worth noting that rice in Venezuela is cultivated in the Central and Western Plains of the country. Production is concentrated in the states of Guárico and Portuguesa, where climatic and soil conditions are ideal. Rice is cultivated during rainy and dry seasons.
