About 3,000 children with hearing problems are treated monthly in the otorhinolaryngology unit of the Domingo Luciani hospital in Caracas.

“We treat a population with ear problems, that maybe people think that it's just a small earache, to which they don't pay attention, they think it's going to happen to them, and they let it go and pass, and then the patients get complicated, and as this progresses, the situation worsens,” he said.
The specialist also explained that, in addition, this health center is developing a plan for the placement of cochlear implants to help children with problems of profound deafness. “In recent years, we have installed 80 cochlear implants to help these patients,” he said.
