Two Mexican Navy ships arrived this Thursday at the port of Havana with more than 800 tons of humanitarian aid destined for the Cuban population, Deputy Foreign Minister Josefina Vidal said.

The official confirmed on the social network X the arrival of the shipment dispatched on Sunday.

The Papaloapan ship transported liquid milk, meat products, biscuits, beans, rice, tuna in water, sardines and vegetable oil, and Holbox Island transported powdered milk and part of the remaining food.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked the shipment and recalled that it occurs after the executive order signed by US President Donald Trump, authorizing the imposition of tariffs on countries that supply oil to the island.

The Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, confirmed that her Government will maintain the offices and reiterated Mexico's willingness to facilitate dialogue between Washington and Havana. He also defended the continuity of assistance as part of Mexican foreign policy.

The Cuban Government stated that the new measures of the United States seek to affect its economy and aggravate internal conditions.
