National Risk Management System monitors riverbeds in the upper area of Portuguesa

Civil Protection (PC) reported that permanent surveillance of the Guanare riverbed, which is 85% above its normal level, has been intensified. An early warning has been generated downstream of the villages of Los Tubos, La Curva, Guerrilandia, Boca de Maya and other vulnerable areas of the municipality.

“We are attentive and deployed with activated protocols and recommend that the nearby population be informed and follow the instructions of the security agencies,” said Daniel Márquez, director of PC in Portuguesa.

He indicated that the agencies of the National Risk Management System are active in the region reinforcing routes and monitoring, especially along the Guanare River and also in the upper area of the state, evaluating the behavior of the Chabasquén, Chabasquencito, Biscucuisito and Saguaz rivers.

He explained that these actions are taken as “preventive measures against any adverse event”, in order to guarantee a timely response and to protect and safeguard the population in the event of a situation of risk or emergency.
