This Thursday, the State of Nigeria held the jihadist group originally from the Boko Haram nation responsible for the armed attack on the communities of Woro and Nuku in the state of Kwara, which left at least 175 victims.

The Nigerian presidency reported, in a statement, that the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ordered the deployment of an Army battalion in the area where the terrorist group killed a large number of unarmed villagers last Tuesday.

The Nigerian president said that the military contingent will lead Operation Savannah Shield to “stop barbaric terrorists and protect defenseless communities,” according to the statement signed by the special advisor for Information and Strategy to the Head of State, Bayo Onanuga.

“It is commendable that members of the community, despite being Muslims, refused to be recruited because of a strange belief that promoted violence instead of peace and dialogue,” said Tinubu, without specifying the number of victims of the armed attack.

The number of deaths in the attack increased from 50 to 175, a community leader told local media.
