Authorities from the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism inspected two protected natural areas in the municipality of Torres, in the state of Lara.
The first review carried out in the Pozo Guapo sector of the Castañeda parish, belonging to the Cerro Saroche National Park, evidenced the damage to natural resources due to the felling of cují and the storage of approximately 6,000 kilograms of firewood, according to the Ministry of Ecosocialism Press.
The forest material recovered during this inspection was placed under the order of the Public Ministry for investigation, since the activity did not have the corresponding environmental permits.
Subsequently, in a Water Body Protected Area called Area Under Special Management Regime (ABRAE), located in the Espinoza de los Monteros parish, vegetation and soil were affected by activities to cut trees of the cují species, presumably intended for the production of charcoal.
At the site, evidence was found of the use of fire for the processing of firewood, without evidence of prior environmental control instruments, so officials of the Ministry of Ecosocialism took appropriate legal action in the case.
In addition to Ecosocialism officials, the Public Ministry (23rd Public Prosecutor's Office and the Office for Environmental Crimes), the Institute of Ecosocialism of the Lara State, the Bolivarian National Police (Environmental Surveillance and Patrol Division), the Environmental Day Care Coordination of the Bolivarian National Guard, the National Park Institute and the Lara Integral Defense Operational Zone No. 13 (ZODI) participated in the deployments.
