The country's older adults joined the constituent process of social movements convened by President Nicolás Maduro to strengthen the organization, Héctor Rodríguez, vice president for Social and Territorial Socialism, reported Thursday.

During an assembly in Caracas, Rodríguez asked to visualize what would happen if all grandparents' clubs and other older adult movements were organized into a single “solid force” that “radiates” to the entire family, community and society in general.

“What would happen if that strength that you have, and that experience, and that knowledge and those values that other generations may not have, radiated throughout society?” , he consulted.

To achieve this, said the sector vice-president, we must work on a cultural change regarding the perception of the so-called elderly, because it is mistakenly believed that at that stage of life one cannot contribute, and he added that “there is no better stage of life than another”, since “in all stages there is a lot to give”.

In that sense, according to a press release, he urged grandparents to have “more organization and more strength to make society understand this, because the more organized they are, no one will disrespect them or violate their rights.”

“The attitude of the grandparents' movement must be one of leadership, you are the moral reserve of Venezuela, you have to assume it with character, with willingness, with determination,” he argued.

Rodríguez also instructed older adults to assume the Plan of the Seven Transformations (7T) promoted by President Maduro in order to find out what each grandfather who is part of these clubs and social movements can do for each transformation.
