The Minister of People's Power for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, strongly rejected the presence of U.S. military forces in waters of the Caribbean and the Atlantic coast, assuring that “no threat, no matter how powerful and intimidating air deployment,” will prevent Venezuela from continuing its development and the defense of its sovereignty.

During an event in honor of the country's musicians, he denounced the unplanned military maneuvers carried out in collaboration with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.

Padrino López regretted that Trinidad and Tobago is a sister town with geological continuity and historical proximity to Venezuela, and that his Government lends its territory to geopolitical games that threaten regional peace.

“It's as if someone strange came to our house to disturb our privacy and tranquility,” compared the General in Chief, warning that allowing the presence of warships and imperial planes on the maritime border is a hostile act. “When they threaten Venezuela, they are threatening the entire South American continent,” he said.

Padrino López condemned the desperation of North American imperialism in its attempt to preserve hegemonies by force and reiterated that Venezuela will not accept any guardianship or return to conditions of vassalage.

“We categorically reject maneuvers, exercises and deployments in our area of interest,” he concluded.
