Pakistan and Afghanistan begin a new open armed confrontation

Pakistan's Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif, stated that Islamabad and Kabul are currently in a state of open armed confrontation.
On February 22, Islamabad reported selective attacks against militant positions in border areas with Afghanistan, stating that the operation was carried out in response to recent attacks in Pakistan, TASS details.
In this regard, the Afghan authorities announced the death of dozens of civilians as a result of the attack, calling the offensive an “act of provocation” and Kabul stated that it reserves the right to respond firmly to the “violation of the territorial integrity” of the country.
On February 26, Afghanistan announced that it had launched a military operation in response to Pakistan's air strikes.
Kabul noted that the military operation was carried out in response to the “violation of the territorial integrity of Afghanistan and the death of women and children” as a result of the actions of the Pakistani Army.
In addition, he announced the destruction of Afghan fortifications and equipment during response actions and stated that he had attacked a series of military installations in Afghan territory, including in the capital region.
Kabul claimed to have succeeded in seizing 2 military bases and 19 Pakistani border posts.
So far, at least 133 Afghan soldiers have died and more than 200 have been injured as a result of the actions of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The Chief of Staff of the Afghan Army, Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat, announced the death of “a large number” of Pakistani soldiers due to attacks by Kabul.
