The first vice-president of the National Assembly (AN), Pedro Infante, affirmed that the defense of Venezuela's territorial integrity is above any political calculation or electoral contest.

During his speech at the State Council for Sovereignty and Peace in Lara, Infante noted that “the aggression facing Venezuela today is unprecedented in more than one hundred years of history. Since 1902, there had been no similar threat from foreign powers against the national territory.”

The parliamentarian emphasized that, according to recent studies, more than 95% of the Venezuelan population rejects any type of invasion or military intervention. “It cannot be said that this percentage represents only Chavista. It is a national expression that does not support any war against the country,” he said.

Infante also recognized the commitment of the Venezuelan people to the defense training programs promoted by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB). He emphasized that, although the population is trained in the use of weapons and territorial defense systems, Venezuela does not promote armed conflict

. “Preparation does not imply a desire for war. Venezuela is a territory of peace,” he said.

He stressed that in recent weeks, defense exercises have been carried out at 284 strategic points across the country, in addition to voluntary enlistment sessions attended by millions of citizens.

He rejected statements by political actors that justify foreign intervention in Venezuela.

“There should be no one in this country who promotes war. The defense of sovereignty is a collective responsibility,” he concluded.
