On November 23, a new Popular Consultation will be held throughout the country, a mechanism through which organized communities propose and choose, among their priorities, projects that then receive resources from the State for their own execution.

In the United for Bolivar Commune, located in Petare, Miranda state, they are already organizing this new democratic process, with the experience gained in previous consultations.

The sectoral vice-president for Social and Territorial Socialism, Héctor Rodríguez, visited that territory this Friday and asked the community members to “give the most beautiful victory to this consultation”.

According to a press release, Rodríguez considered during an assembly that Consulta Popular, an idea that was born in the state of Miranda, “is true direct, participatory, and leading democracy”, since it gives the popular organization “the capacity to make decisions and carry out works in its territory”.

“Democracy isn't just about voting for office every so often, it's about deciding throughout the cycle of public policy. Our democracy has to be for the interests of Venezuelans, it's not just choosing, it's being the protagonist of what's happening in my environment, in my country,” he stressed from the headquarters of the commune.

For Rodríguez, all social policy of the State must be based on the commune “so that it is coherent with the territory, with its own organization and reality”.

He added in this regard that the priority for implementing a public policy “cannot be chosen from the bureaucracy at the desks”, and must -then- “be chosen from the territories, based on the reality of the community itself, which is the one who knows it”.

“When you set us a task, we, from the State, at its different levels, must make all the technical, human and economic resources available to the community,” he said.

Among other tasks, the sector vice-president urged the community to continue to deepen the popular organization and adjust all actions to the government plan of the Seven Transformations (7T).
