The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, condemned the violence during the Generation Z march, which took place in Mexico City, the Russia Today website reported.
“We say no to violence. If you don't agree, you have to demonstrate peacefully. Violence should never be used to achieve change; always by peaceful means,” emphasized the president during the award of the Benito Juárez Scholarships, held in Jonuta, Tabasco.
This Saturday, November 16, Mexico City was the scene of a demonstration organized by the aforementioned group in response to the assassination of Carlos Manzo, mayor of Uruapan, presenting itself as a youth mobilization.
Under the symbolism of the anime 'One Piece', young demonstrators raised their voices to demand greater security and better opportunities as the main demand for the protest.
During the demonstration, the climate of tension escalated when some demonstrators managed to break through one of the security barriers and access the restricted area of the National Palace.
Prior to the mobilization, President Claudia Sheinbaum questioned the origin of the movement.
In this regard, he stated that the call was orchestrated through a digital campaign on social networks, promoted by local opponents and organizations of the international right, pointing to the use of at least eight million 'bots' (fake accounts) and a digital campaign valued at about 90 million pesos (approximately 4.9 million dollars).
